The Wizard of Oz at James L. Knight Center
The Wizard of Oz is a beloved musical rooted in L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel and the celebrated 1939 MGM film starring Judy Garland. The story follows Dorothy Gale from Kansas into the magical Land of Oz, where she travels with the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion in search of the Wizard. Its enduring themes of home, friendship, courage, and self-belief have made it a favorite for generations of theatre audiences.
The stage production brings familiar songs—including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “We're Off to See the Wizard,” and “If I Only Had a Brain”—to life alongside colorful costumes and imaginative scenes set on the Yellow Brick Road and in Emerald City. The 1939 film won Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Original Score, and the story remains one of the most frequently staged musicals worldwide.

The Wizard Of Oz Fort Lauderdale reviews
Takes visuals to a new level; sound was terrible.
This year, the show really took the visual aspects to a whole new level. The performers did a great job interacting with the crowd and kids, as expected in a Disney show. The full back wall projection images and on-ice added a lot of depth to the show. The only bummer of the night was the awful overall sound clarity. We were seated 4th row center at the end of the rink, and most of the chatter among the characters was unintelligible. We attend Disney on Ice almost every year, so we kind of know what to expect going in. Don't know if this was an issue just at the Moda Center, or at this show, but it was really bad.
